Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said on Friday that India saved the lives of 34 lakh people by running a vaccination campaign during Corona. This campaign was started only to save the lives of the people. During this, the government gave free food grains to 80 crore people. At the same time, 40 lakh workers were given work. He was virtually addressing ‘The India Dialogue’ session on Corona vaccination and its associated economic impact. During this, he gave this information by citing a report of Stanford University.

The Health Minister said that the World Health Organization (WHO) has recently declared January 30 as Corona International Day of Concern, but long before this, PM Modi in India had started a campaign against the Corona epidemic. The country launched the world’s largest vaccination campaign to deal with Corona.

Vaccination campaign was started to save lives
He told that the Stanford report states that concrete measures at the ground level like home quarantine, mass testing prevented the Corona verdict in the country. Vaccination campaign saved the lives of 34 lakh people in India. The vaccination campaign was started only to save the lives of the people from the epidemic.

The decision of lockdown was important
Dr. Mandaviya said that the decision of lockdown taken by PM Modi was described as an important decision in the report. During this, work was done to improve the health facilities in the country. People were focused on the stock of N-95 masks, PPE kits and medical oxygen. Digital solutions like e-Sanjeevani and Aarogya Setu were launched. At the same time, a network of 52 laboratories was created for genomic surveillance of emerging forms of the virus.

So far 2.2 billion doses of corona vaccine have been given in the country.
Dr. Mandaviya told that India has started the world’s largest vaccination campaign. In which 97% coverage of first dose and 90% coverage of second dose was achieved. A total of 2.2 billion doses of the vaccine have been administered so far. These vaccines were given free of cost in the country. As per reports the development of COVAXIN and Covishield helped the country fight the deadly onslaught of the virus.

Relief from government’s relief packages
The Health Minister said that the report also appreciated the relief packages launched by the government during the pandemic. There was good coordination at the Centre, states and district levels regarding these, due to which maximum number of people got benefitted. During the Corona period, more than one crore MSMEs were assisted to support small industries, which had an economic impact of US $ 100.26 billion, which is about 4.90% of GDP.

800 million people were given free food grains
During the Corona period, the government started the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, so that no citizen of the country sleeps hungry. Under this, free ration was distributed to 80 crore people. Due to which there was an economic impact of about 26.24 billion US dollars. Additionally, the launch of PM Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyaan helped in providing immediate employment and livelihood opportunities to the migrant workers. Employment was provided to 4 million beneficiaries through the scheme, resulting in an overall economic impact of US$ 4.81 billion.
