India’s population increased to 139 crores. This information was given by the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare in the Lok Sabha on 25 July (Tuesday).
Union Minister of State Nityanand Rai told in the Lok Sabha – According to the online publication of the United Nations (UN), Economic and Social Affairs Department, Population Division and World Population Prospectus 2022, the population of China was estimated at 1 billion 42 crore 56 lakh 71 thousand on 1 July 2023.
Center replied to the written question
In response to a written question in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Nityanand Rai told that the National Commission on Population in its report had estimated the population of India to be 1 billion 39 crore 23 lakh 29 thousand on July 1, 2023.
Rai also said that the central government had given a notification in the gazette on March 28, 2019, to conduct the census in 2021, but due to the arrival of Kovid this year (2019), the activities related to the census were stopped.
