A case of tiger poaching has come to light in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli. STF and Gadchiroli Forest Department arrested a total of 16 people on Sunday. In which 5 minors and 5 women are accused. Tiger nails have also been recovered from the accused. This incident is of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve. Action is being taken against the accused under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972.

STF raided

According to the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, STF carried out the action in Ambeshivani area with the help of local police of Gadchiroli. In which they found a trap used in hunting and three nails of a tiger.

Some accused from Telangana

According to the information received from the accused, some of the accused are from Dhule district of Maharashtra. And some of the accused are from the neighboring state of Telangana.

Poaching racket active in two districts of Maharashtra and Telangana

Tiger hunting racket has started in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli, Chandrapur district and some parts of Telangana. Along with this, Forest Department, Local Police and STF are jointly conducting raids on this.

13 people were killed in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha including Tadoba

In the year 2022, a man-eating tiger had killed 13 people in 10 months. This tiger was active in Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve and some districts of Vidarbha. In which the forest department took action and caught the tiger unconscious. After which the tiger was sent to Gorewada rescue center near Nagpur for rehabilitation.
