A Hindu man named Ravi Kurmi from Mirpurkhas town alleged that his wife Rakhi was abducted. Later she was seen with a Muslim. When she demanded justice, the police claimed that Rakhi had converted to Islam of her own free will and married Ahmed.

In October 2021, a parliamentary committee in Pakistan rejected the bill against forced conversions. In which the then Religious Affairs Minister Noorul Haq Qadri had said that the environment was not conducive for enacting a law against forced conversions.
