Notorious gangster and leader of Uttar Pradesh Mukhtar Ansari, who was lodged in Punjab jail, got VVIP treatment. This has been revealed in the report of the Punjab Police. According to reports, Mukhtar Ansari has also bribed officials for VVIP treatment.
This report has reached Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday. Now the government is preparing to take action in this matter.
Police did not even present the challan
Ansari was lodged in Punjab’s Rupnagar Jail between January 2019 and April 2021. According to reports, not only was he given special facilities during his stay in jail, but the challan of the case in which he was brought on transit remand by the Punjab Police was also not produced. It has been said in the report that some officers of Punjab Police are also responsible in this matter.
Special facilities to Mukhtar Ansari in jail
In 2020, the UP police had alleged that gangster Mukhtar Ansari was being given special facilities in Rupnagar jail. In return, the jail officials took bribe from Ansari. In view of these allegations, two months after the formation of the government, the Aam Aadmi Party formed a committee under the chairmanship of ADGP RN Dhoke to investigate the matter. This committee has submitted the report to CM Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday.
It is being told that a case has been recommended against the officials who helped Ansari. Soon there can be a big action in this matter.
The issue was heated in the 2022 assembly elections
During the 2022 assembly elections, the issue of giving special facilities to gangster Ansari in jail was also hot. Because at the time when Ansari was lodged in Rupnagar Jail, Captain Amarinder Singh’s government was in Punjab at that time and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa was the Jail Minister. It was alleged that Ansari had links with Congress leaders.
Mohali police brought in extortion case
In January 2019, the Mohali police had brought Ansari on transit remand from a jail in Uttar Pradesh. Ansari was accused of demanding extortion of Rs 10 crore from a builder in Sector-70, Mohali. On January 24, 2019, he was presented in the court and sent to Ropar Jail.
