The Customs Department in Punjab’s Amritsar has caught gold smuggling from Dubai. The accused, who came from Sharjah, has been detained by the police and his interrogation is underway. According to the information received, this accused was smuggling gold paste by making it, so that it could be saved from the metal detector.

According to the information received from the Customs Department, the plane which came from Dubai in the morning landed at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar. Passengers check-out was going on. Based on the vigilance of the Customs Department and an input, one person was detained. When he was searched, nothing suspicious was found on him. But on closer examination, the accused was carrying three capsules of gold paste hidden in his anus.

But when that paste was converted into gold, its total weight was 778 grams. The international value of gold has been estimated at Rs 47.45 lakh.
