Gujarat University has filed a complaint against Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh’s statement.

The CBI is questioning Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today in the Excise Policy scam case. Meanwhile, another troubling news has come for Kejriwal. An Ahmedabad court has issued summons to Kejriwal and AAP leader Sanjay Singh.

This summon has been issued in a defamation case. In fact, Gujarat University alleged in its complaint that Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh made derogatory statements against the university on the issue of Prime Minister Modi’s degree.

summoned on 23 may
The court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jayeshbhai Chowatia on Saturday summoned both the AAP leaders on May 23. The judge said that prima facie there appears to be a case against him on a complaint by Gujarat University under section 500 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Commented on PM Modi’s degree
Kejriwal and Singh made the remarks after the Gujarat High Court ordered quashing of the Chief Information Commissioner’s order asking Gujarat University (GU) to provide information on PM Modi’s degree. According to the complainant, both the leaders made derogatory statements in press conferences and on Twitter handles, targeting the university over Modi’s degree.

damage to the reputation of the university
The complainant’s counsel Amit Nair said the comments of the two leaders targeting Gujarat University were defamatory and hurt the reputation of the institution. This University is reputed among the people and the statements of the accused are in danger of creating mistrust about the University.
