But Delhi’s Energy Minister Atishi reviewed the ‘Summer Action Plan’ with power companies and discoms for uninterrupted power supply to the people during the peak season in view of the demand for electricity in the coming days.

A meeting was held by the minister with the officials of the power department and discoms where the officials briefed Atishi about their preparedness to ensure uninterrupted power supply without any power cuts for the upcoming summer season. Atishi said, providing 24×7 electricity to the people is the guarantee and priority of the Delhi government.

Atishi said that the Delhi government is the first government in the country which has instilled a belief among its citizens that they can get 24×7 electricity without any power cuts and we will continue to do so in the coming times even as the demand for electricity increases. Tie-up with power companies and upgrade sub-stations
Atishi instructed the officers to review the demand of electricity continuously. On the same basis, according to the demand of electricity, all discoms should tie-up additional electricity with the electricity companies. Congress leader Anil said that when the DERC had advised the Delhi government in October 2020 to increase the subsidy to 3 kW or 5 kW, under which 95% of the consumers would come under the subsidy and after that the government 316 crores would have been saved, but the Delhi government did not stamp it out only for the benefit of power companies, under whose pressure the DERC withdrew its suggestion on January 6, 2023.

In the name of poor people, in order to benefit private power distribution companies, especially BSES, and to provide undue financial benefits, DERC transferred the subsidy to the power companies instead of giving it to the consumers.
