The water level of the Yamuna river in Delhi reached 208.05 meters at 10 pm on Wednesday. Garhi Mandu village near Signature Bridge in Wazirabad of the capital was submerged in water. More than 16,000 people have been evacuated from the low-lying areas situated on the banks of Yamuna river and taken to safer places.

Yamuna’s water level can reach 208.30 meters by 8 am on Thursday. 12 teams of NDRF have been deployed here. 2,700 relief camps have been set up.

On the other hand, in Pauri district of Uttarakhand, 3 people got swept away in the river on Wednesday. Badrinath highway is closed due to landslides in 5 districts in Chamoli district. Gangotri, Yamunotri and Rudraprayag highways are also closed. Schools will remain closed today in many districts including Chamoli.

About 20,000 tourists are stuck in Himachal Pradesh due to landslides and closure of 1189 roads. They are stranded in areas where there is no electricity and no phone network.

Since June 24, 88 people have died in the state. Landslides have occurred at 51 places and floods have occurred at 32 places. CM has described it as the biggest tragedy in the state in 50 years.

In the last 24 hours, there has been a decrease in rains in Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. Whereas, it rained heavily in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

MCD has ordered closure of 13 schools in Delhi. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has called a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority. Chief Minister Kejriwal will also participate in it.

The record of 45 years of water level of Yamuna river was broken. Yamuna’s highest water level reached 207.49 meters in 1978. This time it crossed 208 metres. This happened due to release of huge amount of water from Hathini Kund Barrage in Haryana.

40 bridges have been washed away in Himachal due to 436% more rain than the normal quota from July 7 to 11.

In Himachal, 50 thousand people have been evacuated safely. Of these, 25 thousand people were stranded in Kullu-Manali for three days.

1,058 districts in 14 districts of Punjab have been affected by the floods.

Light rain will occur in these states: Light rain with lightning very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Odisha and Tamil Nadu.
