Strong winds are blowing in Delhi since morning. People have got relief from the heat due to the sudden change in the weather.
Today is the third day of Nautapa, but rain and strong winds are lashing many areas of the country. It is raining heavily in Delhi-NCR since Saturday morning. According to the IMD, winds gusted up to 70 kmph in areas of Delhi-NCR and roads were flooded. Visibility remained low in many areas till 8 am.
The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of rain in Delhi for the next two-three days. There, there is no possibility of heat wave till May 30. On the other hand, there are chances of rain till May 31 in 7 states including MP-Rajasthan. In the last 24 hours, there was heavy rain in many cities of these states including Jaipur, Bhopal, Ranchi, due to which the temperature dropped by 3 to 5 degrees.
4 flights diverted in Delhi this morning
Delhi airport issued advisory for passengers at 6:43 am after thunderstorm and rain. The airport said that flights at the airport have been affected due to bad weather. In such a situation, passengers are requested to contact the concerned airlines before the flight. After the weather worsened, 6 flights coming from different cities to Delhi have been diverted to Jaipur.

It also rained in 29 districts. The city received 2 mm of rain till 8:30 pm on Friday. Along with this, the record of last 10 years of rain in May was also broken.
Meteorologists told that there is a possibility of similar weather for the next three-four days. In fact, a cyclonic circulation has formed over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. A trough has extended from the southern part of Haryana up to Sikkim and Uttar Pradesh till Bihar. Another North South Trough has extended from East Madhya Pradesh up to South Interior Karnataka.
The rain in Bhopal in the evening reduced the effect of the day’s heat.
Rajasthan: Thunderstorms likely to continue till May 29
According to Radheshyam Sharma, director of the Jaipur Meteorological Center, there will be no scorching heat in Nautpa this time. Day and night temperatures in Nautpa will remain below normal. At the same time, the period of thunderstorms is likely to continue till May 29.
Thunderstorms and rains are possible in the districts of Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Kota divisions on May 27 as well. A fresh Western Disturbance will become active on 28 May. Due to its effect, rain activities will increase. There is a possibility of hailstorm along with heavy rain.
After the rains in Jaipur, the roads were waterlogged at many places.
Haryana-Punjab-Himachal: Temperature drops by 9 degrees due to rain, rain alert till May 31

Jharkhand: Hail fell with rain in the state, 50 km speed storm in Ranchi

In Ranchi, two cars were damaged by falling trees due to the storm. Meteorologist Abhishek Anand said that the monsoon trough line from North Bihar to North Odisha and from Haryana to Sikkim is passing through Jharkhand. That’s why the weather has changed.
The Meteorological Center has issued a forecast report. According to this, on May 27, most parts of the state including Ranchi will be cloudy. It will also rain. The maximum temperature is expected to be 38 degrees and the minimum temperature is expected to be 24 degrees. Partly cloudy sky will occur in some parts of the state from May 28 to 30.

The effect of El-Nino started appearing before the arrival of monsoon
Monsoon hasn’t even knocked in the country yet that El-Nino has started showing its effect. Due to this, there is a possibility of less rain and more heat in June. According to the Meteorological Department, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will receive 92% less rainfall than normal in the monsoon season.
Moderate rains are likely over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim and South India. Meteorologists are telling that the lack of rain in June will be compensated in the coming months.
Below normal rainfall in June
The Meteorological Department in its forecast released on Friday said that June, the first month of the four-month-long monsoon, is expected to receive 92% below normal rainfall.
The country normally receives 165.4 mm of rainfall in June. However, the IMD has predicted a normal rainfall of 96% for the entire monsoon across the country.
May saw below-normal temperatures this year, but the Meteorological Department has predicted that June will see above-normal temperatures in most parts of the country.
El-Nino does not have a direct effect on the lack of rain
Meteorological scientist DS Pai said that El-Nino does not have a direct effect on the lack of rain. There have been 15 occasions since 1951 when El-Nino conditions also prevailed during the monsoon. Of these, 9 times the monsoon received less than 90% (below normal), 4 times around normal i.e. between 90 and 100% and 2 times 100% i.e. more than normal.
The shortfall in rains this year due to El-Nino is likely to be offset by positive Indian Ocean Dipole phenomenon (temperature difference across the two ends of the Indian Ocean).
No progress in monsoon since eight days
Monsoon had reached Nancowri in the southern part of Andaman-Nicobar on May 19 itself, but there has been no progress since last 8 days. Monsoon has been delayed by five days in reaching Port Blair. The IMD predicts that there is a possibility of progress in the monsoon in the next two days and after that it will move very fast in the Bay of Bengal.
