A meeting of opposition parties is going to be held in Bengaluru on 18th July. Two days before the meeting, the Congress made its stand clear on the Delhi ordinance. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said, we will not support the ordinance of the Center.

Along with this, Venugopal confirmed the participation of the Aam Aadmi Party in the opposition meeting. Venugopal said- He (AAP) is going to attend the meeting tomorrow. 25 parties will participate in this meeting of the opposition.

It is very important for Delhi CM Kejriwal to get the support of the opposition on the ordinance. In fact, the central government will present 21 bills in the monsoon session starting from 20 July. It also includes the Delhi Ordinance.

Seeking support of opposition parties against Kejriwal ordinance
On May 20, the central government issued an ordinance regarding transfer-posting of officers in Delhi. Under this, the full authority to take decisions will be with the LG of Delhi. Kejriwal is opposing it. He has sought support from the opposition parties including the Congress on this.

Kejriwal had said on May 21 that if the central government brings a bill in the Rajya Sabha to make this ordinance a law, then the opposition should support us. If the opposition is together, the BJP will be finished in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Kejriwal has so far met 3 chief ministers to oppose the ordinance. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar himself met him on 21 May and supported him. On 23 May, Kejriwal went to Kolkata and sought support from Mamata Banerjee.

He met Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai on 24 May and Sharad Pawar on 25 May in Mumbai itself. After this, on May 28, he met Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao and sought his support.

Sonia called for dinner, Kharge had invited by writing a letter
On July 17, before the second meeting of the opposition on July 18, Sonia Gandhi has called the leaders of all parties for dinner. Prior to that, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had sent an invitation to the top opposition leaders to attend the next meeting.

Eight more new parties are joining the Bengaluru meeting. These include Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), Kongu Desa Makkal Katchi (KDMK), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), All India Forward Bloc, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Kerala Congress (Joseph) and Kerala Congress (Mani) have agreed. Of these new parties, KDMK and MDMK were allies of BJP during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
