In Tripura, a case of gang rape with two minor tribal girls has come to light in Gomti district. Police arrested the main accused in the incident and search is on for nine other accused.

According to the police, the incident in Gomti district is of Wednesday. One in 10 people who gang-raped a girl knew the victim. He had met the girl through Facebook. Both had a phone conversation and made a plan to meet at the fair. When the girls reached the fair, the accused coaxed both the minors and made them sit on the bike and took them to the dense forest of Tingharia nearby.

Later, after taking them to a rubber plant located in the forest, the accused along with nine others gang-raped the girls. After the rape, the accused left the victim girls in the fair premises on Thursday morning.

After the incident, the victim lodged a complaint with the police
The victim girls complained about this in Birganj police station. The victim girls are 16 and 17 years old. After which the police arrested the accused Melarai Jamatia from his house in Tingharia and he also disclosed the names of others involved in the crime.

Second major case of gangrape in three days
This is the second major case of gangrape in the state in the last three days. Two days ago, four people gang-raped a student in a college in Agartala. In which two accused have been arrested. Both the accused have been sent on five-day police remand. Police arrested Laxman Pal, uncle of college student gang rape accused Prasenjit Pal, from MBB airport in the evening for allegedly instigating the accused to go to Kolkata.

92 lakh cash recovered from the accused’s uncle’s house
Police later conducted searches at Prasenjit’s house on the southern outskirts of Agartala and recovered Rs 92 lakh in cash on Thursday night. Police said, “A separate investigation was launched to find out the source of such a huge amount. The police is interrogating the family members about the source of the money and the whereabouts of Prasenjeet, but so far no clue has been found.
