Jharkhand Education Minister Jagarnath Mahato passed away on Thursday. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai. He had corona in 2020. The infection had increased so much that his lungs had to be transplanted. Since then he was running ill. He was an MLA from Dumri in Giridih.

On March 14, during the monsoon session of the Vidhansabha, his health suddenly worsened. After panic and restlessness, he was admitted to the nearby HEC-Paras Hospital.

All types of investigations including CT scan were done, in which signs of mild infection were found in the lungs. He was shifted to ICU. He was shifted to MGM Chennai by air ambulance at night.

On March 14, CM Soren had reached the hospital to inquire about the health of Jagarnath Mahato.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has condoled his death by tweeting. He wrote that our Tiger Jagarnath da is no more! Today Jharkhand has lost one of its great agitators, combative, hardworking and popular leader. Respected Jagarnath Mahato ji passed away during treatment in Chennai. May God give peace to the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this difficult moment of grief.

Regarding the demise, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi wrote in a tweet that Jharkhand Government Minister Shri Jagarnath Mahto ji’s death has been received in a hospital in Chennai. The departure of Jagarnath ji, who fought like a warrior while defeating the disease for a long time, is very sad for the whole of Jharkhand. Personally, I have always admired his vitality despite political differences.

There will be a political shake for two days

Two days state mourning will be observed in honor of Education Minister Jagarnath Mahato. Today i.e. from April 6 to April 7, there will be state mourning. During this period, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all the buildings where the national flag is hoisted regularly. There will be no state function during this time. Along with this, the state government has decided that on April 6 i.e. today all the offices of the state will remain closed. This notification has been issued by the Cabinet Secretariat and Monitoring Department under the signature of Joint Secretary Akhilesh Kumar Sinha. At the same time, the cabinet meeting to be held today has also been postponed.
