After the Poonch, Rajouri incidents, the Center has increased the strength of the J&K Border Police to fight terrorism. To prevent infiltration on the India-Pakistan border, 42 new police posts are being set up. More than 600 posts have been approved for police personnel at these outposts being set up to strengthen the second level anti-infiltration grid.

It may be noted that the 607 posts sanctioned by the Ministry of Home Affairs include 39 posts of sub-inspectors, 88 posts of assistant sub-inspectors, 430 posts of head constables and selection grade constables (SGCT)/constables.

BPP will help in preventing infiltration
BPP ie Border Police Post is also important because it comes second only to BSF and Army on the International Border (IB) on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. Which are helpful in monitoring the infiltration of terrorists, movement of drones, smuggling of drugs and other activities of terrorists.

BPP will be built at these places on Indo-Pak border
Border police posts are being built in Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch districts in Jammu and Baramulla and Kupwara districts in the Kashmir Valley. These districts are on the Indo-Pak border. Many of the 42 BPPs have already been built while the rest are to be built at the earliest.

Outposts are being set up in the upper reaches of Machil, Gurez, Keran, Tangdhar, Police Division Handwara, Uri and other areas of North Kashmir in March. The sanctioned construction cost for one police post is Rs.84 lakh.
