Today is the 12th day of the wrestlers’ dharna at Jantar Mantar.
There was a clash between the police and the wrestlers who were protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Wednesday night. The controversy increased so much that Dushyant’s head exploded when he came to support sister Vinesh Phogat. Wrestlers Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat have alleged that a drunk policeman misbehaved with them. After which the rest of the wrestlers present there created a ruckus.
Vinesh’s brother Dushyant was beheaded in this uproar. Another wrestler was also injured. After the uproar, the police have detained many people.
Wrestlers held a press conference shortly after the incident. Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik started crying while narrating the incident.

- Congress Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda and Swati Maliwal, chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, who reached Jantar Mantar after hearing the news of the attack on the wrestlers, have been taken into custody by the police.
- Wrestler Rahul Yadav, who was injured in the clash, has been sent by ambulance to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for treatment.
- Bajrang Punia said that due to continuous rains in Delhi, Somnath Bharti had brought beds. The police objected to this.
- Bajrang’s wife Sangeeta has appealed people to reach Delhi. He wrote – People from nearby should reach Jantar Mantar soon, the safety of our sisters and daughters is necessary.

Wrestlers said – We had not even eaten the food, the police did vandalism: Narrating the whole incident to the media, Vinesh said that the policemen attacked his brother. One is in the hospital. While the other injured wrestler fainted after falling on the ground. Vinesh said while crying – was it for this day that we had brought the medal for the country. The Brij Bhushan against whom we are fighting is sleeping peacefully today. While we are getting lathicharged by the police here. Till now we haven’t even eaten food and police is doing vandalism.
Delhi Police quote – There was a minor dispute: Delhi Police’s DCP Pranav Tayal said in a late night statement – During the dharna of wrestlers at Jantar Mantar, AAP leader Somnath Bharti reached the dharna site with a bed without permission. When we intervened, the supporters of the wrestlers became aggressive and tried to remove the beds from the truck. A minor brawl followed. In which Somnath Bharti has been detained along with 2 people. At present, a large number of police have been deployed at Jantar Mantar.

Controversy started after abusing female wrestlers
Sakshi Malik’s husband Satyavrat Malik did Facebook Live. In which it was told that at around 10:45 pm, Vinesh was going to take a bed some distance away with sister Sangeeta. That’s why a policeman who was drunk there, while abusing, told him to sleep in the mud. On protesting, a debate started between the police-wrestlers. In between, other wrestlers including Vinesh’s brother came to the rescue. Meanwhile, the police hit Vinesh’s brother with a stick on his head.
The protest increased so much that the top officers of Delhi Police also reached the spot. To boost the morale of the comrades, the wrestlers raised slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai Vande Mataram and Inquilab Zindabad.

Delhi University students were dragged on Wednesday
Delhi University students taking out a march in support of the wrestlers have been taken into custody by the police. At the same time, the students have accused the police of indecency and assault. Supreme Court hearing on WFI dispute today
The Supreme Court will hear on Thursday, May 4, a petition filed against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for sexual harassment of women wrestlers. The matter will be heard by a bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud.
