Hearing the song ‘Mera Mulk, Mera Desh, Mera Yeh e-Watan’ amidst snow-capped peaks at a height of 11,000 feet on the China-Tibet border adjacent to Lahaul-Spiti in Himachal, one’s chest should swell with pride. Especially when it is known that the singers of this song are not singers or soldiers, but local women. Something similar was seen on the occasion of January 26 at the Sumdo border adjoining China.

On Thursday, on the occasion of Republic Day i.e. January 26, a program was organized by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawans and local people at this post along the China border. In this programme, listening to this patriotic song by the local women here, it was as if the chest of the Himalayas became proud. The video related to this is capped on social media.

ITBP jawans hoisted the tricolor at Sumdo border
ITBP jawans celebrated Republic Day by hoisting the tricolor at Sumdo border, just 15 km away from China-occupied Tibet border in Himachal. Mahila Mandal of Shalkhar, a border village of Kinor, also participated in this. The women filled the atmosphere with enthusiasm by singing the patriotic song ‘A-Watan’.

People living in border areas are feeling proud
The Indian Army and paramilitary forces have been running such campaigns frequently with the aim of strengthening the sense of patriotism among the people living along the border. Lobjang Angmo, the head of the Shalkhar Mahila Mandal, told that the people living in the border areas are feeling proud by hoisting the tricolor on the border with the army.

No shortage of patriotism and passion
The mercury in this area is running around 15 degrees below zero, yet there is no dearth in the patriotism and passion of the army and the local people. Apart from patriotic songs, Mahila Mandal also presented a cultural programme. Earlier, ITBP jawans saluted the tricolor with the national anthem. From the Sumdo border, the mountain peaks bordering the borders of China-occupied Tibet are clearly visible.
