The central government has started the process of banning and blocking 235 mobile apps after the Chinese connection came to the fore. This includes 138 online betting apps and 94 loan giving apps. The Ministry of Home Affairs said that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) had recommended to ban and block these apps last week, after which the Ministry has taken this decision.

Investigation has revealed that these apps lure people to take loans and win lakhs by playing satta. Later, on not being able to repay the loan, they would send lewd messages to them, even threatening to make their photos viral by tampering with them. Distressed by this, some people of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana committed suicide.

Anti-India content found on apps
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the investigation of these apps was started after the input received from MeitY. In which it has been found that there is content on these apps that harms the sovereignty and integrity of India. This is a crime under section 69 of the IT Act.

First give loan, then harass
The ministry said that some people had also made complaints of extortion and harassment against these apps. The people who complained had taken a small amount of loan from these apps, later they started being harassed. Due to which some people even committed suicide.

People who are suffering from financial crisis are targeted
According to the information found in the investigation, through these apps, people struggling with financial crisis are lured to take loans. Later these apps used to increase the interest on the borrowers up to 3000% annually. When the borrower expressed his inability to return the loan money, he was harassed. Ugly messages are sent to them. Threats are also made to make the photographs of the borrowers viral by tampering with them.

Many borrowers commit suicide in Andhra Pradesh-Telangana
Information about these apps came to the fore when loan takers or speculators from these apps committed suicide due to upset. Such cases were reported from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. After this, states like Telangana, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh and central agencies also asked the Ministry of Home Affairs to take action against these apps.

After such information and demands came to the fore, the Ministry of Home Affairs started analyzing 28 Chinese loan-giving apps six months ago. In which it was found that 94 apps are available on e-stores. At the same time, many apps are working through third party links. At the same time, after the Chinese connection surfaced in these apps, the process of banning them has been started.
