The Kotkapura shootout related to the famous Bargari sacrilege case of Faridkot, Punjab, will be heard in the Faridkot court today. Earlier, the matter was heard on 30 May. During the hearing, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal appeared before the court, while the other accused got their attendance waived by the court.

2400 page supplementary invoice
Please inform that 2 FIRs 129/18 and 192/15 are registered in Kotkapura firing case. The SIT headed by ADGP LK Yadav and SSP Bathinda Gulneet Singh Khurana in the case has submitted a 2400-page supplementary challan a day before the death of former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal. Earlier, on February 24, 2022, a charge sheet of 7 thousand pages was filed in the Faridkot court.
Total 8 accused in the firing case
In the challan, the SIT named former CM Prakash Singh Badal, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, the then DGP Sumedh Singh Saini, the then IG Paramraj Umranangal, SSP Moga Charanjit Sharma, SSP Faridkot Sukhmandar Mann, DIG Firozpur Amar Singh Chahal. And the then SHO City Kotkapura Gurdeep Singh has been made an accused.
who was charged with what
The then DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and former Deputy CM Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal have been named as the main conspirators in the incident. While former CM Punjab Parkash Singh Badal is accused of helping execute the conspiracy. The then IG Umranangal, DIG Firozpur Amar Singh Chahal and SSP Moga Charanjit Singh Sharma are accused of executing the conspiracy.
The then SSP of Faridkot Sukhmandar Singh Mann and SHO of Kotkapura Gurdeep Singh are facing charges of conspiracy, concealment of facts and distortion of facts. SIT has currently filed a charge sheet in the FIR registered in the year 2018. Significantly, former CM and Deputy CM Badal have been named as accused for the first time in the Kotkapura firing incident.
This is sacrilege and firing case
On October 12, 2015, an incident of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji took place at Bargari in Faridkot. After this, Sikh organizations protested in Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan, which the police tried to quell. Meanwhile, on October 14, the police used force against the protesters in Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan.
Police fired in Behbal Kalan, in which 2 Sikh youths were killed. Firing also took place in Kotkapura, in which around 100 protesters were injured. On August 7, 2018, the police registered a case of intention-to-murder against unknown persons. About a month back, SIT has submitted supplementary challan in all the three cases.
