In our country, which celebrates many types of days, there is also Farmer’s Day. Although very few people know about it. That’s why it is rarely discussed. Actually, Chaudhary Charan Singh’s birthday i.e. 23 December is celebrated as Farmer’s Day.

Chaudhary Charan Singh is known for bringing forward the problems and issues of farmers, especially small and marginal farmers. Farmers can be talked about on Farmer’s Day. How ironic it is that most of the farmers of this agricultural country are still dependent on rain water for farming. When it comes time for fertilizer for their crops, its black marketing starts.

When it comes time to sell their crops, the prices become very low. Governments do nothing and businessmen earn a lot by becoming middlemen. The main problem is that even today the Indian farmer does not have the power to stop or hold the crop. He has no choice but to sell it at whatever price he gets at the time of harvest. His past debts, his future expenses, never allow him to hold back the harvest.

In the presence of powerful governments, farmers have to agitate for months so that at least they can get the right price for their crops. There are governments that make promises and go back and the farmer is unable to do anything. The problem is also that the way the workers go on strike, teachers can go on pen strike, similarly the farmer cannot stop sowing or producing crops.

This is the reason why the governments keep taking advantage of whichever party they belong to. In the name of convenience, the farmer largely does not get anything. In the cities, there is electricity for 24 hours in the factories of industrialists, but the farmer does not get electricity even for twelve hours. Why? nobody knows. No government has any answer to this. The farmer thinks that it is better to get electricity for ten hours than two hours, so he too cannot say anything. Even if he speaks, after all, who is going to listen?

Actually, his voice does not reach anywhere. The voice of the farmer is like a trumpet in the Nakkarkhana. The farmers who get their votes and reach the Parliament or Legislative Assemblies, they no longer remain farmers in a few years. They come in the count of industrialists. In this way, the farmers do not get anything except deception. Governments should do something honestly for the problems of the farmers. Just as it is done by bringing cricketers in the cricket board, in the same way, by bringing true farmers in the governments, agriculture commissions, committees, work should be done for the welfare of the farmers across the country.
