The Child Protection Commission has sent this proposal to the Education Department. It will be implemented only after his approval.

It has been recommended to change the uniform of girls in Karnataka schools. Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights wrote a letter to the Education Department. In which he argued that by wearing skirts, girls feel difficulty in commuting and playing. That’s why instead of skirt, pants or salwar should be included in the dress code.

Where did the demand for change of dress arise?
A letter was written to the commission by an assistant director of the women and child welfare department in Kalaburagi on the inconvenience caused to girls wearing skirts. In this, he has talked about changing the uniform of girls from class 1 to 10th.

In the letter written on May 15, it has been said that girls are of shy nature. While traveling, walking in crowded areas, cycling or participating in sporting activities, wearing a skirt can be a bit uncomfortable. So the uniform should be replaced with salwar or pant.

The education department will decide whether to change the uniform or not.
The Child Protection Commission forwarded this recommendation received from the officer of the Women and Child Welfare Department to the Education Department. However, the final decision regarding this has to be taken by the Commissioner of the Education Department.

Child Protection Commission chairman K Naganna Gowda said, “It is a recommendation that we have made. Whether to change the uniform or not, it is for the education department to decide. Not only have recommendations been received from officials, but we have also interacted with girls from rural areas. They all agreed that there is a problem in wearing a skirt while playing.
