Violence broke out ahead of Hanuman Jayanti in a bike rally of 1000 people in Odisha. Ten people were injured in stone pelting and arson.

Violence broke out at a bike rally in Odisha’s Sambalpur on Wednesday ahead of Hanuman Jayanti. Ten policemen, including a woman policeman, were injured in stone pelting and arson. More than 1000 people participated in the rally. The administration has imposed Section 144 in the district regarding the violence. Internet service has been stopped. Sambalpur SP B Gangadhar informed that after investigation, 40 people have been detained after registering a case. Let us inform that Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated in Odisha on Maha Vishuva Sankranti which is falling on 14th April this year.

A video of this incident has also surfaced. It is seen in the video that some people from a house are pelting stones at the rally. It is being claimed in several media reports that violence broke out after stones were pelted at a bike rally passing through Bhudapara and Sunapalli under Dhanupalli police station area of ​​the city. A makeshift shop and several two-wheelers were torched in the incident. Several cars were also vandalised.

Additional SP Tapan K Mohanty informed the media that more than 10 policemen were injured in the incident. Adequate police force has been deployed at sensitive places in the city. When asked whether any person from outside other than the police force was also injured, Mohanty said the investigation is going on and nothing more can be said at the moment. Section 144 has been implemented in all 6 police station areas of Sambalpur city.
