The crook Gufran was killed in an encounter by the STF on Tuesday morning in Kaushambi, UP. Gufran, carrying a prize of Rs 1.25 lakh, was a resident of Pratapgarh. According to ADG Prayagraj Bhanu Bhaskar, about 13 cases of robbery, murder and attempt to murder are registered against Gufran. He was absconding since May 16, 2023 i.e. about 40 days.
STF CO DK Shahi said that input was received that Gufran had come near the toll plaza in Kokhraj area. The siege was done in the Kokhraj area at 4.40 am. When he saw the police, he started running towards Manjhanpur on the bike. STF chased him.
When the team surrounded Samda Sugar Mill, Gufran started firing. There was firing from both sides for about 20 minutes. During this, a bullet hit Gufran’s jaw. he fell. He was taken to the hospital. There the doctors declared him dead. Gufran died at around 6 in the morning.
Police said that Gufran was running away on an Apache bike. A carbine has been recovered from him.
Gufran was a contract killer: STF
DK Shahi told that Gufran was a notorious criminal of Pratapgarh. Used to do contract killing. Teams were looking for it for several days. Information was received that on Monday he is going to carry out some major incident in Kaushambi. That is why the team was already on alert mode.
Gufran was wanted in 7 cases. He may also have links with the IS-227 Ateeq gang. It is being verified. Gufran himself has a gang of his own, some of whose people are still in jail. They are being traced.

Gufran’s son Rizwan was a resident of Puranpur Patkhan Prithviganj of Kotwali area of Pratapgarh. On June 6, a reward of 50 thousand was declared on Gufran. Which was increased to one lakh on 24 June. According to SP Kaushambi Brijesh Srivastava, there was a robbery incident on April 24 in Pratapgarh. Gufran was seen in his CCTV. Gufran was also involved in the murder of painter Tanveer in Mahuar village a month ago. His gang members had stopped Sarerah Tanveer and shot him twice.
The Prayagraj police had declared a reward of Rs 1 lakh on Gufran, while the Sultanpur police had declared a reward of Rs 25,000. In the encounter, the police recovered a 9 mm carbine, 32 bore pistol and Apache bike from him.
The Lucknow STF team laid siege near the sugar mill to nab the miscreant Gufran.
Police has also released pictures of the encounter spot. In this, a bike fallen in the bushes is visible on the raw road. A carbine is lying nearby. There is blood everywhere in the bushes. Police has sealed the spot. The forensic team is collecting evidence. Where the encounter took place is 50 meters away from the road.
