May every step you take take you towards happiness. If it is known where to go, what is the goal. Who can be a better example of this than Lieutenant Colonel Amar Dehal of Rashtriya Rifles, who at the age of 35 is learning to walk again with the help of a robot.

Was posted in Shopian district of Kashmir in 2017
In September 2017, he was posted in Shopian district of Kashmir. Then a terrorist attack happened. He was shot twice. One hit the head and got stuck in the left side of the brain. The second bullet hit his stomach. After this, Dehl remained in a coma for eight months. When he woke up from the coma, he remained in a wheelchair. Because of the neurological problem, the signals from the brain to the lower parts of the body stopped reaching. After that he could never stand up from the wheelchair.

But on the first date of November in 2022, Dehl took the first step after five years with the help of a robot, while smiling in the neuro rehabilitation department of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.

Dehl’s wife hopes – he will soon be able to walk on his feet
Dehl’s wife Lt Col Sheela accompanied him. She says that on that day Amar’s face was as happy and excited as a child taking its first steps. In the next ten days, Dehl walked 7,000 steps on a similar treadmill with the help of a robot. Hope they get back on their feet soon.

Robot challenges, standing on feet after 5 years
Dr. Abhishek Srivastava, director of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the hospital, explains that robot-assisted therapy is effective in helping patients regain balance and walk. The robot coordinates with their limbs and sends messages to the limbs as to how much power to use in walking. The robot sets new goals and challenges for the patient to help him recover.
