IMD has issued rain alert in almost all the states this week. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is expected in 17 states including Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan in the next 12 hours.

A landslide occurred in Chamoli, Uttarakhand on Saturday morning. Due to this the Badrinath Highway (NH 7) had to be closed. The Highway Authority is engaged in clearing the debris. Earlier on June 29 also, the Badrinath Highway was closed for 17 hours due to a landslide.

Junagadh district of Gujarat has been receiving torrential rains for the last two days. It received 20 inches of rain in the last 24 hours. Due to this the flood water in Ojat river entered more than 15 villages. Osa Ghed village has turned into an island. 2 teams of NDRF have reached for rescue.

It has been raining heavily in many areas for the last 30 hours. 10 people have died. Due to heavy rains, water filled inside Gandhidham railway station in Kutch district.

In Himachal, 24 people have died in the last one week. An auto driver died after falling into a drainage in Delhi. That is, there have been 35 deaths in these three states.

According to the Meteorological Department, Rajasthan has received 145.9 MM of rain 3 times more than normal in June. The state usually receives only 50.7 MM of rain in June.

  • Home Minister Amit Shah has approved the release of Rs 6,194.40 crore to 19 state governments under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). This fund will be used for carrying out relief and rescue work in monsoon.
  • According to the State Disaster Management Authority of Himachal Pradesh, 24 people have died in the last one week due to heavy rains and inclement weather. 43 people have been injured and more than 350 cattle have also been killed. The state is estimated to suffer a loss of more than 240 crores.
  • Several villages have been flooded due to 16 inches of rain in Visavadar, Junagadh, Gujarat. The houses were also filled with water up to 5 to 6 feet.
  • Delhi’s air quality improved due to monsoon. Delhi’s air quality index has come down to below 200 on Friday evening. At the same time, due to the overflow of the drain in Harsh Vihar area, an auto fell in it, due to which the driver died.
  • According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, less than 20,000 people were affected by the floods in the state on Friday. Earlier, 38 thousand people were in the grip of flood on Thursday and 83 thousand on Wednesday.
