The historic Gopeshwar temple situated between the Badrinath and Kedarnath temples in Uttarakhand has leaned to one side. Cracks are visible in many places in the temple and water is also dripping from the roof. The temple is located at the Gopeshwar headquarter of Chamoli.

Temple priests Harish Bhatt and Atul Bhatt told that the local administration, Uttarakhand government and the Archaeological Department have also been informed about the matter by writing a letter, but no concrete action has been taken so far.

The responsibility of conservation to the Department of Archeology
The sanctum sanctorum of the Gopinath temple is spread over 30 square feet. It is considered to be the famous temple of Rudranath Bhagwan’s winter seat. The style of its construction is said to be Katyuri, due to which the responsibility of conservation of the temple has been given to the Archaeological Department.

Monsoon raised concern in Joshimath and Karnprayag
In January this year, hundreds of houses, hotels and shops in Joshimath and Karnprayag had cracked. After the arrival of monsoon, once again the concern of the people here has increased. After 6 months, the situation here has already improved, but people believe that if there is more rain, such incidents can happen once again due to landslides.

NDRF and SDRF teams deployed
District Magistrate of Chamoli Himanshu Khurana has said that in view of the seriousness of the matter, the administration is constantly keeping an eye on Joshimath and Karnprayag. A control room has also been set up at Joshimath to deal with the disaster. NDRF and SDRF teams are stationed here.
