It rained heavily on Wednesday in Dungarpur, Rajasthan. People took the help of a rope to stop the scooty from flowing.
According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon is progressing at a slower than normal pace across the country. Right now the country has received 16 per cent less rainfall. However, the northwestern states have recorded 42% more rainfall than normal. Monsoon is expected to remain active for three days in the eastern, central, north-west and western states of the country.
Heavy rain is expected in 23 states including Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan in the next 24 hours. Due to heavy rains, there is a flood-like situation in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain for 3 days in Himachal.
Here, there is some improvement in the flood situation in Assam. According to Wednesday’s report by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, 83,000 people are still in the grip of floods in 6 districts of the state. After the death of one more person, the total death toll has gone up to 7.
Mumbai, Thane and Satara in Maharashtra received heavy rains in the last 24 hours. Railway tracks, markets and roads in Mumbai and Thane were inundated with up to 3 feet of water. A 30-year-old man died in Goregaon. The tree had fallen on him. There were two incidents of landslides at Mahabaleshwar and Vikhroli in Mumbai. No harm done here though.
5 people got stuck in the middle of the river in Kharpadian village of Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh. They were evacuated with the help of a helicopter. These include 1 female and 4 males. The cattle had gone to graze. They were trapped in the river due to sudden rise in water.
