Three people, including Assam’s IAS officer Sewali Devi Sharma, have been arrested from Ajmer. He also has a son-in-law in it. During this, Sewali’s maid was also taken into custody. The vigilance team of Assam carried out this action on Monday morning with the help of Ajmer’s Kotwali police station.

Team left for Assam
The arrest took place in connection with an alleged scam of Rs 105 crore in the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) of Assam. All the three accused had come to Ajmer to nab the absconders. All three were taken on remand after presenting them to the CJM here. After this the team has left for Assam with them.

The team reached Ajmer last night
Late on Sunday night, a special team of Assam Vigilance reached Ajmer under the leadership of Inspector Pritam Sekia. Pritam told- The team had reached Ajmer on Sunday night itself. Kotwali police station was contacted. The whole matter was told. The accused were informed to be from Ajmer. On Monday morning, the Assam Vigilance Team and Kotwali police station arrested Sewali Devi Sharma, son-in-law Ajit Pal Singh and Rahul Amin from Hotel Cross Lane, Jaipur Road on the basis of location. Both Rahul and Ajit Pal are contractors.

Withdraw money without work order
Sewali Devi Sharma is alleged to have been in SCERT between 2017-2020. It is alleged that he had opened 5 bank accounts without the consent of the government. He was allegedly involved in scams of more than 100 crores. It is being told that his son-in-law is also involved in this scam. Son-in-law is a contractor. The IAS officer is accused of having withdrawn Rs 105 crore without any work order.

1992 batch officer
Sewali Devi Sharma is an officer of 1992 cadre. He has done BA and LLB. Now the government is strictly investigating the matter of scam. In this connection, at present the special team is also interrogating the officer. Earlier, the government had suspended Sewali Devi as soon as the matter came to light.
