Punjab Police has bowed down to Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh after yesterday’s attack on Ajnala Police Station in Amritsar, Punjab. The police filed an application in the court to discharge his accomplice Lovepreet Toofan from the case. After which, on the orders of the court, Lovepreet Toofan came out of the jail around 3:30 pm.

Some supporters and family members had arrived to receive the storm. As soon as the storm came out, Amritpal Singh was given the title of Jarnail. Talking to the media, Toofan said that he had no hand in the matter. There has been a lot of co-operation from the companions. Thanks to all who have contributed to his release.

Toofan said that all his brother is Jathedar Amritpal Singh. He is Jarnail and Jarnail stayed in Chaddi Kalan. When asked about Tashdat (torture), Toofan said that it was bound to happen, this is not the house. The realization of slavery has to be made.

Toofan left for the Golden Temple straight from the jail. Some supporters had arrived to pick him up. He will meet with Amritpal at the Golden Temple and then leave for home.

Seeing the tense situation police force deployed
Additional police force has been deployed since Friday morning to control the situation in Ajnala. SSP Rural Satinder Singh himself is present inside the police station. On the other hand, the police station has been completely cordoned off so that Thursday’s incident does not happen again. Satinder Singh has clarified that today the police is going to move the application for the release of Lovepreet Singh Toofan in the court.

Police silent on registering FIR
Reiterating Thursday’s statement, the SSP said that evidence has been presented before the police on behalf of Amritpal Singh and his supporters. On the basis of which it is clear that Lovepreet Toofan was not there. Today the police is going to file an application in the court for Lovepreet’s release.

When he was asked about filing an FIR on Thursday’s incident and the incident of assault with the policemen, he refused to comment on it. At the same time, he clarified that the morale of the police is intact. Police has to take action considering the situation.

Anti Riot police deployed
Anti-riot police force has been deployed at Ajnala in Amritsar. More police force is present as compared to Thursday, so that Thursday’s incident does not happen again. Police says that the situation is under control and will be kept under control.

  1. Amritpal, Lovepreet Toofan and their supporters were booked at Ajnala police station in Punjab for kidnapping and assaulting Varinder Singh, a resident of Chamkaur Sahib, on the night of 16 February. Taking action, police arrested Lovepreet Singh from Gurdaspur.
  2. For the release of Lovepreet Singh, Amritpal Singh along with supporters reached Ajnala with Guru Granth Sahib’s decorated Palki Sahib. When the police tried to stop them, the supporters attacked with swords.
  3. Around 1.15 pm, Amritpal along with his supporters captured the police station. The conversation with the police continued till 6 o’clock.
  4. Around 3 pm, the police force was given one hour’s time and demanded the release of Lovepreet Toofan and pressure was created to return the FIR registered on 16th February.
  5. The police had to bow down around 5.30 pm. Lovepreet agreed to give an application in the court for the release of Toofan. Police agreed to form SIT to cancel the FIR registered on 16th February.
