Amritpal contacted former Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht Jasbir Singh Rode to surrender. Jasbir Rode is the nephew of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala. Amritpal told Rode that he wanted to surrender. According to sources, Rode first tried to approach the central agencies for this.

However, there was no response from there. After this coordination was done with Punjab Police. After which it was decided that Amritpal would surrender on Sunday morning. According to sources, seeing the positive response, Jasbir asked Amritpal to reach Rode village at night itself. According to which Amritpal came at night itself. After this, the surrender was waited for in the morning. Amritpal’s plan was that he would surrender in the afternoon in a crowd of supporters.

When there was a possibility of deteriorating the atmosphere, the police arrived first.
According to sources, the Punjab Police activated the Intelligence Wing as soon as it came to know about Amritpal’s surrender. After which input was received that if Amritpal was given such an open opportunity to surrender, then the atmosphere could deteriorate. That’s why the Punjab Police reached village Rode at 6 in the morning. Police confirmed that Amritpal is in the village itself. After which the whole village was surrounded. After this, officers in plain uniform went inside the village to arrest him.

Amritpal came to know that the police would not give a chance to surrender, would directly arrest him. He also knew that if there is a case under National Security Act (NSA), he will be sent to Dibrugarh in Assam. Jasbir Singh Rode tells that Amritpal prepared his kit. Changed the suit. Wearing slippers. Kept the necessary things and went towards the Gurudwara. After going there, Amritpal started reciting sitting in front of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala’s photo.

From there he also addressed the Sangat. Amritpal said in the loudspeaker that he can be arrested anytime. He also thanked those people who supported him in these circumstances. the police waited outside

IG Headquarters of Punjab Police Dr. SS Gill told that the police had surrounded the entire village. Amritpal was found to be in the Gurdwara. The police had reached there in plain uniform. The police waited outside. After which Amritpal was arrested at 6.45 pm.

According to sources, while Amritpal was reciting inside and addressing the people, the police officers were standing outside. Due to the decorum of Gurdwara Sahib, they did not go inside to catch him.

Former Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Jasbir Singh Rode said that Amritpal Singh had come to Rode village on Saturday night. I came to know from the police that they are arresting today. I met him before his arrest.

He said that I will address the Sangat after paying obeisance at Gurdwara Sahib. I will tell them the whole situation that I am giving the arrest on my own free will. What was the reason for not arresting till now, I will also tell that myself.

He bowed his head at Gurdwara Sahib. recited. Then prepared your kit. Wearing chola and parna. Took slippers. After this preparation he went to the Gurudwara. There he told the people the reason for the delay in the arrest. After this he went out and got arrested.

There is nothing to arrest Amritpal, he has surrendered himself. If the police caught him then how would he address the Sangat?
