Due to rains in Rajasthan’s Sanchore, a flood-like situation has been created in the entire area.

Cyclonic storm Biparjoy is wreaking havoc in Rajasthan. According to the Meteorological Department, it is likely to move towards North-North East of Rajasthan in the next 12 hours. Director General of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Dr. Mrityunjay Mohapatra told that it is raining only in Gujarat and Rajasthan due to the cyclone. Monsoon has nothing to do with this cyclone.

Biparjoy created havoc in Rajasthan and Gujarat only
Due to the storm, flood-like conditions have been created in the desert areas. Many houses are filled with water up to 5 feet. This storm rising from the Arabian Sea will turn into a low pressure area and pass through Gwalior on Monday. South will go towards Uttar Pradesh via Gwalior. Due to this, some areas including Rajgarh of Bhopal division and Gwalior Chambal division may receive good rain at some places on Sunday.

Effect of Biperjoy in Rajasthan
In the last 24 hours, 22 inches of rain has been received in Sanchore, 15 in Mount Abu, 13.25 in Shivganj, 13 in Charbhuja, 8 inches in Balotra. There is no electricity in more than 500 villages. There are 8 dam overflows in Pali district and 5 in Sanchore. Half of Sanchore is submerged due to breach of Panchla dam. Rajasthan has received 300 mm of rain this season, the second highest after Meghalaya. Experts say that monsoon may enter Madhya Pradesh between June 23 and 26.

Alert in 15 cities of Haryana

  • Due to Biparjoy, there is an alert of heavy rain in 15 cities of Haryana.
  • Monsoon rains in North-East Arunachal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim.
  • The Brahmaputra river is in spate in Assam. More than 38 thousand people have been affected by the floods in 13 districts.
