Zomato co-founder Gaurav Gupta resigns, says- ‘Take another path in my journey’

Gaurav Gupta, the co-founder of online food delivery platform Zomato, has resigned as a key figure for the company’s IPO in July.

In an email sent to Zomato employees, Gupta – who was the head of supply – said that he will start a new chapter after spending six years at the company.

“I am taking a new turn in my life and will start a new chapter taking a lot out of this defining chapter of my life – last 6 years at Zomato. We have a great team now to take Zomato forward, And it is time for me to take an alternate path in my journey,” Gupta said.
The co-founder said that he could not have asked for more and is extremely grateful for all the experiences and for helping everyone around him become a better person.

“I love Zomato and will always be. Came 6 years ago didn’t know what it would be. And what a mind blowing and amazing journey it has been. Feel proud of where we are today, what we are “To be here and even more proud of what we will achieve in the future,” Gupta said in a mail posted on the company’s blog.

He also thanked the company’s founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal for being a part of the journey. “Thank you Deepi for making me a part of this journey. I will always cherish the wonderful time we spent together. I have learned a lot from all of you and I know in my heart that you have taken Zomato to those heights.” will take what most cannot even imagine,” said Gupta.

Replying to the mail, Deepinder Goyal thanked him for his efforts in helping the company’s journey over the years. “Thank you, GG, for what you have helped achieve Zomato over the years. We have seen Zomato together in great as well as terrible times and have brought it here today.

“Our journey is still ahead, and I am grateful that you are hanging your shoes at a point where we have a great team and leadership to take us forward,” Goyal said.

Goyal also said that he could not even imagine life in the company without them. “Thank you for being a better friend to me than anyone else. I still can’t imagine everyday life at Zomato without you. You will be missed a lot. Good luck!” Goyal said.

Later in a tweet, Goyal said, “Thank you @grvgpta – the last 6 years have been amazing and we have come a long way. Our journey is still a long way ahead, and I am grateful that we have a great team and leadership. to take us forward”.

Gupta was named as the co-founder in 2019 and headed the supply function at Zomato.

Shares of Zomato were trading at Rs 144.60 per share on the BSE, up 0.98 per cent from the previous close.
