Zira Morcha: Punjab’s Air Water, Being Contaminated | Chandigarh News – Times of India

BATHINDA: Zira Sanjha Morcha, formed to oppose the continuation of a distillery in Ferozepur district, has urged the Punjab government to look into the immense water and air contamination in the state.
The Sanjha Morcha coordination committee on Sunday said Punjab was facing the challenge of water contamination and environmental pollution. Various industries, including a distillery near Zira town, are injecting back untreated water into the ground through tube wells, which is harmful for human beings and bovine.
The protest at the distillery, Malbros International, are on for a month and the protesters have shut Zira and Talwandi Bhai towns in the past. Morcha claimed the distillery had three high-grade tube wells.
