Ireland were unable to chase down 125, struggling to recover after losing opener Paul Stirling for 19 runs.

Zimbabwe won the final match of their Twenty20 series against Ireland by five runs as Craig Ervine smashed an unbeaten 67 at Brady on Saturday.

The series ended 3-2 in favor of Ireland after the hosts took an unassailable 3-1 lead on Thursday. For example, Zimbabwe captain Erwin scored 67 runs in 57 balls.

Dion Myers added 26 for the tourists, who finished on 124/4 as Mark Adair of Ireland took 3/23.

Ireland were unable to chase down a total, struggling to recover from losing opener Paul Stirling for 19 runs.

Neil Rock top-scored with 22 but Luke Jongwe and Donald Tiripano took three wickets each to keep Ireland away.

Craig Young scored 10 runs in the final over to give Ireland a glimpse of a dramatic victory.

The hosts needed a six off the last ball to win with one wicket left but Josh Little was run out.

Ireland’s Sterling was adjudged Player of the Series after registering his maiden T20 International century in the third match.

Ireland and Zimbabwe will face each other again in the three-match One Day International series starting Wednesday in Belfast.
