CSK skipper MS Dhoni refuses to confirm whether IPL 2023 will be his last season as a player

Is M S Dhoni Going to retire after IPL 2023? Well, the Chennai Super Kings icon sent social media into a meltdown yet again with a cryptic response to a question asked during the toss for his team’s encounter with Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday afternoon.

Danny Morrison tactfully questions the two-time World Cup-winning skipper as to how he has been enjoying massive support across the board in his last season.

It seemed that Dhoni was ready.

“Clearly, this amazing swansong tour, your last. How are you enjoying it?” Morrison asked after a rousing reception from fans at Ikana Cricket Stadium when Dhoni won the toss.

Dhoni replied with a smile, ‘You have decided that this is my last.

This question comes up again and again every season of the IPL, especially since Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020.

IPL being held outside the country and then being limited to one state last year corona virus Amidst the pandemic, CSK, did not get to play home games in Chennai for three consecutive seasons.

Last year, Dhoni had said that it would not be a good idea to retire without saying goodbye to the Chennai fans at Chepauk.

“Definitely, I will play next year. It would be unfair not to say thank you to Chennai, not play in Chennai. It will not be good for CSK fans. Whether 2023 will be my last year or not, we have to see,” he said last year. Said.

Hence IPL 2023 is being touted as Dhoni’s last season despite the wicketkeeper-batsman not explicitly saying so.

However, he was felicitated by CSK owner and former BCCI president N Srinivasan before their match against Rajasthan Royals last month.

A similar honor was accorded ahead of Wednesday’s clash between LSG and CSK in Lucknow.

Dhoni is playing his first professional match in Ekana Cricket stadium and to mark the occasion, he was presented a memento by BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla.
