With quite a number of MPs coming to power for the first time, PM Modi not only asked them to work for the well-being of the state, but also gave them a mantra on how to be successful as the representatives of the people.

After the completion of the successful election of the Lok Sabha Speaker on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met all the newly-elected MPs of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), congratulating each one of them for their victory in the Lok Sabha elections.

With quite a number of MPs coming to power for the first time, PM Modi not only asked them to work for the well-being of the state, but also gave them a mantra on how to be successful as the representatives of the people. “All of you have been elected to power to work for the cause of the people. You must keep this at the centre-stage of your attention,” the PM advised the MPs as per sources.

The Prime Minister also advised them to be well read and prepared for Parliament. “Each one of you must work hard and come to Parliament regularly and well prepared. You must interact with the leaders here because this is the treasure of knowledge, and that is why it is called the temple of democracy,” PM Modi told the MPs, said the source.

Just like the Prime Minister has been telling the other MPs in the past, he also conveyed to the newly-elected TDP MPs to pick one subject and focus on it completely from start to finish and to take initiative around the subject in the respective constituencies to ensure maximum benefit reaches the people who voted them to power. This work must be done irrespective of politics or political ideology, the PM told the MPs.

Making his connect personal, the Prime Minister conveyed to the newly-elected members of Parliament that he is always available. “Anyone wants to reach out to me? I am always available for you. This statement of the prime minister was extremely convincing, especially for the newly elected members of Parliament who have only seen Modi from a distance,” a TDP MP told News18.

Upon learning about the deteriorating health of former union minister and former TDP MP Ashok Gajapathi Raju’s wife, the Prime Minister checked with the TDP MPs on the same, which left the TDP MPs extremely touched.

The TDP has been a long-term ally of the BJP in the NDA since the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. After joining the NDA in 2014, Chandrababu Naidu’s party had walked out of the NDA alliance in 2018, because of the failure to get special category status for Andhra Pradesh. But just before the 2024 elections, the TDP joined hands with the BJP along with Jana Sena for the Lok Sabha and the Assembly polls. Not only did the NDA alliance sweep the Lok Sabha polls, winning 21 out of 25 seats, but the NDA wave swept the Assembly Polls as well. The TDP alone won 163 out of 175 assembly seats.
