Young man, elderly woman dies after being hit by car Ludhiana News – Times of India

Ludhiana: A young man and an elderly woman were killed when a speeding car rammed into a motorcycle near Harion village bypass of Samrala on Monday evening. The car dragged the elderly woman for a few meters, killing her on the spot. The youth riding the bike died on the way to the hospital.
The victims have been identified as Karanvir Singh, 18, of Khirniyan village, Samrala, and Malkit Kaur, 75, of Hariyon village.
Police said that the accident happened around 8 pm. Karanvir was a student of class XII and Malkit was a widow.
ASI Shamsher Singh said, ‘Karanveer was going to Samrala to meet his maternal uncle. When they reached near Harion village, they gave a lift to Malkit, who was also going to Samrala, on his motorbike. When they reached Harion village bypass, their motorbike was hit by a speeding car coming from Chandigarh side.
The collision was so strong that both the bike riders jumped in the air. Karanvir fell on the roadside and Malkit in front of the car, which dragged him for a few metres. When the passersby raised an alarm, the driver of the car fled leaving his vehicle.
A case has been registered against the car driver under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 427 (mischief causing damage to fifty rupees) and 304-A (death by negligence), which is yet to be identified.
