Following the conclusion of the Test series, Pakistani fans came down heavily on the Shan Masood-led side. When asked what he thought about the fans’ disappointment, Masood, at the post-match press conference, said, “If a son is not bringing good results, you can get upset, but you can’t leave him.”

The recently concluded 2-match Test series was a memorable and historic one for Bangladesh, but one to forget for Pakistan. After a 10-wicket drubbing in Rawalpindi, Pakistan were hoping for a strong comeback but Bangladesh were once again at the top of their game, winning the second Test by six wickets to win the series 2-0 – thus claiming their first Test series victory over Pakistan.

Following the conclusion of the Test series, Pakistani fans came down heavily on the Shan Masood-led side. When asked what he thought about the fans’ disappointment, Masood, at the post-match press conference, said, “If a son is not bringing good results, you can get upset, but you can’t leave him.”

Despite the Test series defeat, Masood remained calm about his future. However, he admitted that the side was not prepared for the pressure of red-ball cricket. Masood even accepted that playing a Test match after a gap of almost 10 months was quite difficult to deal with.

“There is no excuse for losing this series and we accept that. But it is also a fact that the players also wanted to do well. But we were just not prepared for red ball cricket. We have to tolerate some failures if we are to move forward,” Shan Masood was quoted as saying by PTI.

“The main thing is that we need to build our stocks in fast bowling and need to encourage and give consistent chances to those bowlers who regularly play red-ball cricket,” the 34-year-old said.

The 2-0 clean sweep helped Bangladesh secure some important points in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC). Bangladesh have now managed to reach the top half of the standings. In the ongoing WTC cycle, Bangladesh have so far earned three wins, securing the fourth spot on the points table. Team India are currently at the top of the WTC standings.
