Noida: Yogendra Sharma re-elected Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Association (phonerva) President for the second consecutive term on Sunday.
The 21-member executive committee of Forva, led by Sharma, was challenged by a more than three-time winning former president. NP Singh and his team.
A total of 216 votes were cast out of 220 eligible voters in the polling that ended at 2 pm, with 98.18% voting in favor of Sharma and his team.
The election was held without any hesitation under the supervision of Election Officer Col (Retd) Shashi Vaid, Asim Thakurta, Milan Mohan Sharma and DK Kharbanda.
Yogendra Sharma secured 140 votes and defeated NP Singh by 64 votes. KK Jain of Sharma faction was also re-elected to the post of general secretary with 113 votes, while his rival Sukhdev Sharma got 102 votes,” Col Vaid said.
Similarly Ashok Kumar Mishra of Sharma panel won the treasurer’s post by 122 votes over his rival. Omveer Bansal Who got 91 votes.
Others from the Sharma faction, who were elected on Sunday, include senior vice-presidents. JP UppalOP Yadav, Rajiv Garg and Vijay Bhati, Vice President Ashok Tyagi, Devendra Singh Chauhan, Pawan Yadav and Yogesh Sharma etc.
On being re-elected, Sharma said, “Our priority will be to continue to raise the issues of the residents and to address the civil issues.”
Phonarwa is the umbrella residents’ body of GB Nagar, which has over 180 RWAs as its members. Together, they have been active in raising issues related to civic, electricity, water and infrastructure of residential areas with the developing authorities in the district.
