Yeddyurappa meets PM Modi, avoids questions of change of leadership in Karnataka

New Delhi: Amid speculations about a change of leadership in Karnataka, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital.

Yediyurappa, however, spoke about speculations of leadership change in Karnataka after the meeting and insisted that they only discussed development-related issues.

When asked about speculations about leadership change in Karnataka, he sarcastically said, “I don’t know if you have to tell.”

Yediyurappa, who accompanied his son Vijayendra during his visit to the national capital, will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday.

Yediyurappa, who is not accompanied by any of his ministers during the visit, had earlier also considered a possible cabinet reshuffle in Karnataka ahead of the meeting.

“I will tell you whether there is any discussion (happening) with seniors on restructuring or expansion of the cabinet,” he said.

This comes amid speculation that a section of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are raising their voice for Yeddyurappa’s removal as there have been murmurs within the party’s Karnataka unit over the past few months.
