Yeddyurappa asks supporters not to participate in protests amid speculations of change of leadership in Karnataka

Amid speculation that he would replace him, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa urged his supporters and well-wishers not to indulge in any kind of protest or indiscipline which is derogatory and could embarrass the BJP.

Taking to Twitter, Yediyurappa said, “I am privileged to be a loyal worker of the BJP. It is my utmost honor to serve the party with the highest standards of ethics and behavior. I respect all as per the party’s ethics. I urge you to act and not get involved in the protest/indiscipline which is disgraceful and shameful for the party.”

The 78-year-old BJP veteran even said that the party is “like a mother” to him. “I am privileged to be a loyal worker of BJP”

Appealing to supporters not to make statements in their favor or join protests based on current political developments, Yediyurappa, in a tweet in Kannada, said, “Your goodwill should not exceed the limits of discipline. Party to me Is like a mother and is disrespectful. It will hurt me. I am sure my true well-wishers will understand and respond to my feelings.”

Yeddyurappa support

Support continues for Yeddyurappa from monasteries, priests, political leaders across the party line, amid speculation that he is likely to leave.

Leaders and religious leaders, especially from the Veerashaiva-Lingayat community, the All India Veerashaiva Mahasabha, have also declared their support for Yeddyurappa and urged him to continue as chief minister, with “bad results” for the BJP. Warning has also been given.

Speaking in support of Yeddyurappa, some BJP leaders like MP GM Siddheshwara and former MLA B Suresh Gowda have also expressed confidence that he will continue as CM, as the high command has not asked him to step down.

Yediyurappa had recently met PM Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda in Delhi

Yeddyurappa, completing his two years on July 26, visited Delhi last week, during which he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP President JP Nadda.

The visit raised questions in some circles whether the party is now working on a succession plan.

However, on his return from the national capital, Yediyurappa had dismissed reports that he was going out, and insisted that the central leadership had asked

for him to remain in office.
