Yashasvi Jaiswal Joins Elite List After Test Double Hundred

India’s young gun Yashasvi Jaiswal has continued to breathe fire on the England bowlers and has gone on to score his maiden Test double hundred for Team India. His innings was the only saving grace for the hosts who managed to put up a good total of 396 in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test in Vizag.

With his scintillating 209, Jaiswal has also joined an elite list by becoming the 3rd youngest Indian to score a Test double hundred for the team. Yashasvi’s 19 boundaries and 7 sixes gave the crowd a lot of entertainment over the first two days as Team India aim to level the 5-match Test series to 1-1 after suffering a disappointing loss in the 1st Test.

Scoring 171 on his Test debut in West Indies, Jaiswal had earlier become only the 2nd Indian to score a home and away hundred before the age of 23, replicating master blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s feat.

Jaiswal joins elite list

Jaiswal recently became the third youngest Indian to score a double century in Test cricket. Vinod Kambli, a former batter, holds the record as the youngest Indian to achieve this milestone at the age of 21 years and 32 days, followed by Sunil Gavaskar at 21 years and 277 days. The overall youngest double centurion in Test cricket is Javed Miandad, accomplishing the feat at 19 years and 140 days.

Jaiswal has been in sublime form for Team India in recent times. With scintillating displays in the T20 series against Afghanistan, he continued his progress and starred in the longest format of the game as well. He was the one to watch in the 1st test as well as the top order failed to bring their best game in Hyderabad.
