Bhubaneswar: Puri Jagannath Temple administration plan to conduct a Yajna as part of a formal launch for the ambitious Shree Mandir Parikrama Yojana on 24 November. Although the formal launch of the Heritage Corridor project was earlier scheduled for October 18, the program was postponed in view of the forecast of bad weather for that day.
“We have planned a yagya on November 24. The details are being finalized. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik And other dignitaries are scheduled to participate in the ceremony,” said Krishna Kumar, the chief administrator of the temple.
On Monday, Kumar reviewed the preparatory meeting with the temple and district officials and servicemen. The officials also visited the Yagya site, about 100 meters away from the temple.
The temple administration has already got a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the National Monuments Authority (NMA) for the smooth execution of the project.
Implemented at a cost of about Rs 800 crore within a 75-metre radius of the temple, the heritage corridor project envisages development of monasteries, a reception centre, facilities for devotees and enhanced security of the temple.
The project is part of the Infrastructure for Development and Expansion of Heritage and Architecture (ABADHA) scheme. Puri As a world class heritage city.
The government has purchased land from 115 families around the temple to execute the project. At least 512 shops and 24 lodges were evacuated for the 75 meter corridor. In addition, properties of 25 mutts were acquired for the project. The government has so far paid Rs 289.34 crore on land acquisition for this purpose.
