Xiaomi: Xiaomi could be working on a 192MP camera phone – Times of India

As per the leak, the 192MP camera sensor that Xiaomi is planning to employ will support 16-in-1 pixel binning, which means the image output will be in 12MP resolution. The phone is likely to be powered by Qualcomm’s SM8450, tentatively named dragon picture 895, which would later become the US chipmaker’s next major mobile platform Snapdragon 888.. The SM8450 is expected to feature ARMV9-based next-gen Kryo 780 CPU cores, new Adreno 730 GPU, next-gen Spectra 680 with 4nm architecture. GPU and the integrated X65 5G modem. The mobile chipset is expected to be unveiled in the third quarter of this year after which devices with the chipset will be introduced in international markets.
Rumors about the camera and processor alone make for top-of-the-line specifications, strongly hinting at a flagship device in the works. Xiaomi has earlier brought mid-range devices like Mi Mix Alpha and Mi Note 10 (Pro) with 108MP camera sensor. But it is 192MP and is expected to be only a flagship, whatever Xiaomi brings it. When this phone might launch, rumors expect the launch to happen early next year, probably in December or January, depending on the availability of the SM8450 chipset.
Meanwhile, the successor to the Snapdragon 888 (SD 888) has already surfaced in the form of the Snapdragon 888+. The new SD888+ chipset is an upgraded version of the SD888 with a claimed clock speed of 3GHz (from 2.48GHz) and 20% improvement with faster AI. Its predecessor can perform 26 trillion operations per second (TOPS) for AI tasks, but with a 20% improvement, the SD 888+ is capable of 32 TOPS. These are both major improvements that have been made to the new chipset. The SD 888+’s hardware is the same as the SD 888’s.
