It’s been just a few days since the launch of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and it already seems to be a huge success. The players are leaving no stone unturned to give their best on the field and thus, the viewers are in for an intense battle with every game.

March 4 was the first double-header of the league, where Delhi Capitals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 60 runs and later, UP Warriors registered a 3-wicket win against Gujarat Giants. UP’s Kiran Navagire, who is known for her attacking prowess, scored a blistering half-century to set the tone for her team’s victory. During his stay in the middle order, he hit five fours and two sixes. But apart from his knock, one thing that caught everyone’s attention was the mark on his bat.

There was no sponsor label on Navagire’s willow. Instead, he himself wrote ‘MSD 07’ on it. The commentators pointed it out in the air while the Maharashtra batsman was punishing the Gujarat Giants bowlers.

As soon as people came to know about Kiran’s bat, social media was flooded with posts appreciating the cricketer.

An MS Dhoni fan, he lost his half after Navagire’s 43-ball 53 (5×4, 2×6) battled it out with Garth taking his fourth scalp of the day. Number six batsman Harris then took charge of proceedings, but wickets kept falling with Garth Racing following clean bowled Simran Sheikh.

After reducing UP to 105/7 in 15.4 overs, Gujarat Giants were looking towards an easy win but Sophie and Harris had other ideas.
