It was inevitable. One team had to win and the other had to face defeat. It was Gujarat Giants’ turn to taste victory in their maiden Women’s Premier League on Wednesday as they condemned Royal Challengers Bangalore to their third consecutive defeat of the current season. The scoreline rightly suggests that it was a close encounter, but only that Gujarat Giants never looked under the pump in defending a total in excess of 200.

GGT now have one win and two losses in three tries, which has earned them three points and also helped them improve their net run-rate, though it remains in negative territory; -2.327 to be exact.
