East India Head coach Ravi Shastri has advised the Australian team to change their approach if they want to outclass the hosts in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Pat Cummins and Co. suffered a crushing defeat in Nagpur as many have started predicting that they might see a whitewash in the mega series. Australia have lost three Border-Gavaskar Trophies, two of which were played down in their den.

The Aussies failed to put up any fight in the first match of the series and will be expected to face the same ‘spin’ challenge in the second Test starting February 17 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi.

Shastri is not impressed with the attitude of the Australian players on the field as he wants them to be more aggressive if they want to put pressure on India.

“I want to start with a strong piece of advice for the Australian team. Save the English manners for the Ashes. You need to practice good old Australian manners here in India to recover from the defeat in Nagpur,” Shastri wrote in his Sydney Morning Herald column. needed.

The former India head coach suggested that Australia surrendered to the Indian spinners in Nagpur and they need to bank immediately in New Delhi to make a statement.

He said, ‘I want to see him come out and be aggressive in Delhi. To return their ability and play with intent. I was surprised by the lack of it, especially in the second innings where they were bowled out for 91. Not in the timid, almost un-Australian, fashion that he surrendered against the Indian spinners at the VCA Stadium. But the punch has to be thrown quickly, and they need to give India a tough fight from the start in Delhi. If Australia doesn’t attack India immediately, there is a strong possibility of a 3-0 or even 4-0 series loss,” Shastri said.

He further gave bold advice to the Australian players to leave their IPL buddies behind and show some aggression on the field that they are known for.

“I would also ask the Australian team to leave their Indian Premier League friends behind and keep them for later. There seemed to be a bit too much camaraderie for my liking at the Nagpur ground. I want to see that the Australian team’s strong intentions come to the fore in Delhi,” Shastri said.

He said India are quite confident as they have a balanced bowling attack while Australia will have to move on after the Nagpur defeat.

“I can say this with confidence: the Indians will be relentless, as they always have been in India. This is as good a bowling attack as ever, both in terms of pacers and spinners. India has never had a spin trio where All three should be all-rounders. It’s not the end of it all for the Aussies though and they need to tell themselves that. Look yourself in the mirror and realize you’re not as bad as you were on Saturday. This one day, There was one session where you messed up,” he wrote.
