World Press Freedom Day: Shah Rukh Khan To Kartik Aaryan, Actors Who Played Journalists In Films

New Delhi: Media is the fourth pillar of democracy because if the press is not free then no country can move forward. On May 3 the world celebrates the freedom of the press and cinema has at times represented the state of journalism in our society.

On World Press Freedom Day, let’s take a look at actors who played journalists in films and web series.

SRK and Juhi Chawla in `Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani`

Shah Rukh Khan along with Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla played the role of journalists from rival channels. Both journalists put competition aside to fight for justice for an innocent man who was accused of being a terrorist.

Kartik Aaryan in “Dhamaka”

Actor Kartik Aaryan, known for his comic and boy-next-door avatar, plays a prime-time journalist. This story tells the ground reality where the press is desperate to make breaking news without giving a single thought to the lives of innocent people. Karthik was well received by critics for the film.

Anushka Sharma in ‘PK’

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma plays a TV journalist in the blockbuster film `PK`. Sharma’s character of Jagat Janani helps an alien (Aamir Khan) find his voice to shake the throne of a corrupt religious guru, played by Saurabh Shukla.

The film ‘Kabul Express’ revolves around the disturbing events that took place in Afghanistan after the US invasion. John Abraham and Arshad Warsi play two young journalists who cover real-time events of mass destruction in the land of Afghanistan.
