World Cup winning captain Eoin Morgan may struggle for T20 World Cup 2022, feels former cricketer

Liam Livingstone’s entry could lead to a senior player being dropped from England’s squad for the upcoming 2022 T20 World in Australia. Morgan’s poor form is entirely to blame as he faced a scary race against the Netherlands where he scored back-to-back ducks and was ruled out of the third match. Meanwhile, his competition Livingstone is all guns blazing. Not only did he have a good IPL, but he also helped England reach a world record total of 498 in the first ODI against the Netherlands.

Former England cricketer Mark Butcher said that he does not see Morgan playing in the T20 World Cup, in fact, he said that he would be ‘staggered’.

“I honestly can’t see it, because Liam Livingstone should be on that side. And the power of striking power around that squad means there’s no room for anyone to be just captain, no matter how good the captain.” Why should this not happen.

“I will be shocked if he tries to make it to the 2023 World Cup. It is not because of two ducks against Netherlands. Frankly, who cares? It does not matter. I was surprised that he didn’t announce that he was with it after he won in 2019. Now we are three years after him and he is still going,” Butcher said.

Morgan has been at the fore of England’s white-ball revolution and propelled them to 2019 Men’s win Cricket World Cup at home. “Look, he’ll probably prove us all wrong, will come back, have great fitness and an exceptional run and lead the team in the next one, but at the moment it looks like a wild fantasy, doesn’t it?” Butcher concluded.

Morgan has even faced a frightening run with the bat IPL Where he took them to second place in IPL 2021. But his dry run ensured that KKR released him and replaced him with Shreyas Iyer earlier this year.
