New Delhi: The much-anticipated India-Pakistan match at this year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup has been postponed to another date, while dates of eight other matches have also changed.
Ticket sales dates have also been announced, with a staggered approach being taken to give as many fans as possible the best chance to see the world’s best player.
Schedule change
The match between India and Pakistan was originally scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on Sunday 15 October, but was postponed the day before and will now take place on Saturday 14 October at the same venue. As a result, the England-Afghanistan match in Delhi has been postponed to Saturday 14 October and will now take place 24 hours later on Sunday 15 October.
High-voltage matches reschedule
The Pakistan vs Sri Lanka match in Hyderabad has been postponed from Thursday 12th October to Tuesday 10th October and the big game between Australia vs South Africa in Lucknow has been postponed for 24 hours and will take place on Tuesday 10th October instead of Friday 10th October. It will be held on Thursday, May 12th, which was originally scheduled to play on October 13th.
Day-night matches details
Meanwhile, the match between New Zealand and Bangladesh, originally scheduled as a day game in Chennai on 14 October, has been postponed to a day-night match on Friday 13 October. There are minor changes to the schedule compared to the early stages of the tournament, related to the timing of the England vs. Bangladesh match in Dharamsala. The match was originally scheduled to be a day and night match, but it will be a daytime match starting at 10:30 a.m. local time.
Towards the end of the league phase, three changes will be made. Doubles matches on Sunday 12 November have been moved one day earlier to Saturday 11 November – Australia v Bangladesh in Pune (10:30 CET) and England v Pakistan in Kolkata (14 CET) from 15:00).
India’s match details
Meanwhile, India’s final league match against the Netherlands was postponed to 11-12 November, with a day-night duel in Bengaluru. The World Cup kicks off on Thursday 5 October with 2019 finalists England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The highlight of the event is the finale that will be held at the same venue on Sunday, November 19th.
