World Bank President Ajay Banga to travel to India next week to attend G20 meeting

According to the development lender, World Bank President Ajay Banga will travel to India next week to attend the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

This will be Banga’s first visit to India after taking over as the President of the World Bank last month. Gujarat is hosting four G20 meetings in the first two weeks of July.

According to officials, these meetings will provide an opportunity to business representatives to share their perspectives, insights and policy recommendations on various economic and trade-related topics and will play a very important role in shaping the global economic agenda and policies.

India calls for rising above differences

Earlier on Wednesday (July 5), India asked the G20 countries to ‘rise above differences’ and use their collective expertise to address challenges facing the world such as climate change, cyber security and water scarcity.

In his opening remarks at the G20 Science Ministers’ Meeting, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh said India recognizes the importance of global collaboration and knowledge-sharing in tackling the complex challenges of today, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi Talked about it happens on every international platform.

The Minister called upon the G20 countries to leverage their collective knowledge, expertise and resources to foster a culture of innovation, promote sustainable development and ensure a prosperous future for all.
